ABOUT THE CLASS

The dance class facilitates cognitive stimulation, social interaction, while also focusing on stability and gait. The class begins seated and participants are guided through a progressive warm-up and a series of sequences that encompass the principals and qualities of dance. The class advances to standing for those who feel comfortable. For those not comfortable or able to stand, seated modification for each exercise is provided. The class follows the Dance for PD® model, which was founded in Brooklyn in collaboration between the Brooklyn Parkinson’s Group and the Mark Morris Dance Group. Wertheimer Fellowship Program, which provides continued development and mentorship to qualified instructors.
