For St. Petersburg
White Nights Festival
7 city tour to reach 15,000
New Jersey Ballet will launch its 50th anniversary season with a seven-city tour of Russia.
International touring is nothing new to New Jersey ballet. The company has performed before
hundreds of thousands of people in Italy, the U.S.S.R., Taiwan, Bermuda (twice) and India.
Highlights of the Russian tour will be two performances in St. Petersburg during the
prestigious White Nights Festival, a gathering of the finest performers from all corners of the
earth, followed by two performances in Moscow
Other performances are scheduled in Viliki Novgorod, Ykaterinberg, Kazan, Samara and Nizny
Novgorod, reaching over 15,000 ballet fans from throughout Russia
The program will include three popular jazz ballets by celebrated American choreographers
Robert North, Margo Sappington and New Jersey native Ginger Thatcher. Also on the program is
the sensuous Belong pas de deux by Norbert Vesak, one-time director of the
Metropolitan Opera Ballet
