March 13 Gala promises exciting program

By news on Thursday, February 18 2010

The audience at this year's Gala will visit the legendary Forbidden City, check out a Jazz Age ballroom, and a take a walk through Central Park -- all without leaving their seats in NJPAC's Prudential Hall. The Three Riddles of Turandot by celebrated Chinese-American choreographer Nai-Ni Chen, was applauded in The Star-Ledger as "a ballet of compelling mystery and emotional depth...a significant addition to NJ Ballet's repertoire."

For Top Hat Medley, New Jersey Ballet's dancers will be joined by the New Jersey Tap Dance Ensemble for a jazzy, high energy ballroom piece co-choreographed by The Tap Ensemble director Deborah Mitchell and Broadway up-and-comer James Kinney.

Kinney's March (The Star-Ledger called it "endearing") brings six couples together in a
Bob Fosse-style jazz dance that Recorder Newspapers described as "youthful and sexy."

Gala set for March 13 at NJPAC, Newark. Performance begins 7;00 PM. Tickets are $50, $40, $30. Call 973-597-9600 for details and to reserve your seats.
