New Jersey Ballet Company Cancels Remainder of the Season, but Commits to Paying Its Dancers

posted 4/11/2020

Due to the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, New Jersey Ballet Company has been forced to cancel its remaining performances for the 2019-2020 season. The Ballet’s number one priority is the health and safety of our patrons, dancers and staff, and in that regard we are closely following directives from state and federal officials.

Great art is made by having the best artists with diverse backgrounds and abilities, exceptional repertory, and strong leadership. To that end, as plans are being developed to adjust to the current situation, New Jersey Ballet Company’s Board of Directors has decided to pay the dancers of New Jersey Ballet for the remainder of the season. The Board believes that ensuring the Ballet’s talented artists have the means to weather this unprecedented crisis is of utmost importance.

Due to the cancellation of the remainder of the season, and the mandatory stay-at-home order issued by the Governor, New Jersey Ballet anticipates a significant loss in earned revenue for the 2019-2020 season. The Ballet intends to power through this difficult period thanks to our dedicated patrons, dancers and staff.  We ask that you continue to support the Ballet so that it can fulfill its mission of providing world class ballet to communities throughout New Jersey.

We look forward to seeing you again during the 2020-2021 season.
